Dualities for Exceptional Gauge Groups and Quantum Global Symmetries

We discuss our attempts to generalize the known examples of dualities in N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories to exceptional gauge groups. We derive some dual pairs from known examples connected to exceptional groups and find an interesting phenomenon: sometimes the full global symmetry is “hidden” on the magnetic side. It is not realized as a symmetry on the fundamental fields in the Lagrangian...

More on N = 1 Self - Dualities and Exceptional Gauge Groups

Starting from a generalization of a recent result on self-duality [15] we systematically analyze self-dual models. We find a criterion to judge whether a given model is self-dual or not. With this tool we construct some new self-dual pairs, focussing on examples with exceptional gauge groups. ∗Work supported by DFG

Warfield Dualities Induced by Self-small Mixed Groups

For a self-small abelian group A of torsion-free rank 1, we characterize A-reflexive abelian groups which are induced by the contravariant functor Hom(−, A) in two cases: the range of Hom(−, A) is the category of all abelian groups, respectively the range of Hom(−, A) is the category of all left E-modules, where E is the endomorphism ring of A.

Deriving N=2 S-dualities from Scaling for Product Gauge Groups

S-dualities in scale invariant N = 2 supersymmetric field theories with product gauge groups are derived by embedding those theories in asymptotically free theories with higher rank gauge groups. S-duality transformations on the couplings of the scale invariant theory follow from the geometry of the embedding of the scale invariant theory in the Coulomb branch of the asymptotically free theory.

Dualities for Constraint Satisfaction Problems

In a nutshell, a duality for a constraint satisfaction problem equates the existence of one homomorphism to the non-existence of other homomorphisms. In this survey paper, we give an overview of logical, combinatorial, and algebraic aspects of the following forms of duality for constraint satisfaction problems: finite duality, bounded pathwidth duality, and bounded treewidth duality.
